Microsoft: Help your friends and family to leave Windows XP
Microsoft has done an intense campaign to inform about the “death” of its Windows XP operating system. Death is relative and that what will happen is that from next April 8, Microsoft will not give more support to this OS.
This does not mean it ceases to exist. Users who have installed this version of operating system may continue to use it, only who will not receive software updates that are included in security including. That is, the system can start to be vulnerable to harmful viruses, spyware and other malicious programs.
Since Microsoft recommend change and a post published in an official blog of the company ask those who have upgraded to help other people change. The post is titled “Help your friends and family to leave Windows XP”.
The text asks those who know someone with this OS help guide on how to upgrade and also recommend reading the special section made in the Windows page.
For example, they recommend installing the “Windows Upgrade Assistant”, a program that identifies the current operating system, the state of the PC and check the equipment is compatible with the new system, Windows 8.1.
Right there could follow the instructions to update your system and make data backup. Moreover recommend buying a new computer. “It’s the easiest way to get Windows 8.1 is with new devices, and hat offers many stores that help people to get a new computer”, explained from the blog.
Since Microsoft recall that for example, there is no desktop client to SkyDrive and the Web version only supports loading files smaller than 300 MB.
Many users told that is not easy to change. The first reason is money. Not all computers that have XP support newer versions of operating systems like Windows 7 or 8.1 and therefore would have to be substituted, very expensive.
